Welcome to #GOALS English.
I teach English as a foreign language and American accent coaching.
Are you feeling stuck when it comes to the progress you are seeing with your English learning? Perhaps you’ve been fluent for years, or even decades, and still find it difficult to express yourself in new situations, clearly communicate your ideas at work or in social settings, or even struggle with pronunciation, intonation, and the flow of English in general.
The number one concern my students have when they begin working with me on their English fluency and America accent is this: “Can I improve?”
With a fluency and accent coach such as Monica, the founder of #GOALS English, you can have that much needed outside input to help you recognize the areas where you need to focus your practice and study to improve your English. Often times non-native English speakers are aware they are struggling with certain sounds or aspects of fluency, but don’t quite recognize which areas need the most attention, or how to improve those areas of difficulty.
While online resources, books, and courses are all be extremely helpful (and recommended), because of each students’ individual needs, you may experience a gap in your learning if those are the only tools you use. One-on-one lessons, customized to fit your needs, can help you fill that gap in your English learning so you can work more efficiently when you do dedicate time to your English.
My lessons are probably very different from what you’ve experienced in a formal classroom setting or with other English teachers. I strip away the fluff, verb drills, grammar drills, etc. and get right to the heart of learning English at an advanced level: speaking practice.
If you’re interested in online English lessons with an experienced accent and fluency coach, I offer free 15-minute consultations so you can get an idea of what we can accomplish together and whether my teaching style will work for your needs.
Here is an idea of some of the things we would work on…
All of the sounds of American English and how to use them naturally and in context
The IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) Symbols to be able to better identify unfamiliar or often confusing sounds
Lessons that focus on the American English accent that work to help with accent reduction and improve English clarity and fluency
New idioms, vocabulary words, and English phrases not often heard in formal English classes
Additional resources for English practice so you can continue to improve between sessions

For all of my students, I suggest becoming familiar with the sounds of American English as your very first step. Often time students learn the sounds incorrectly from the beginning and must take a step back and relearn some of the most basic sounds of English, especially the vowels and some of the more difficult consonants like the various ‘r’ and ‘th’ sounds. Students often combine or blend vowel sounds, confuse similar vowel sounds, or even miss out on learning certain sounds entirely.
Because of this, I always suggest starting with my free video lesson, “All of the Sounds of American English.”
It will give you a clear and easy explanation of each vowel sound and each consonant sound along with their IPA symbols and example words for American English pronunciation. This is also the video where I teach everything listed on the free printable IPA symbol chart simplified specifically for general American English pronunciation.
If you’d prefer a text and audio clip format, the same content, is available here.
I am so happy to be helping students from around the world improve their English. I know the frustration of struggling to learn a new language and feeling like it’s a goal just out of your grasp. Whether you take private lessons with me or not, I hope that I can provide helpful lessons and resources for you.
I always welcome questions and feedback on my content, and take all lesson requests into consideration, whether from English learners or teachers.
